WHAT IS PEHT?
The Partnership for the Eradication of Human Trafficking (PEHT), the 2010 Flagship Project of SNY YPIC, is a year-long event series with the goals of:
creating awareness surrounding the crime of trafficking in persons; educating people about the prevalence of this under-reported issue; and initiating
debate with concrete action. Through educational and social events, PEHT seeks to engage young professionals from various backgrounds to become
involved in their communities, to offer their services to anti-trafficking organizations, and to build capacity in the fight against human trafficking.
Together with our supporters, PEHT aims to form coalitions, be drivers for change, and become modern day abolitionists.
PEHT aims to promote dialogue between partners and audiences through discussing the specific issues, objectives, and breaking news of this large-scale, global problem. By presenting opportunities for informed discussions, awareness-raising and community building, PEHT aspires to create a movement of modern day abolitionists, where debate is nurtured and action is fostered. Future PEHT-sponsored programs may include site visitations and volunteer field days, as well as panel discussions, issue-based events and social functions to serve as platforms for inspiration and action.
